'Just wake me up' 3/10
Mixed media on a deep canvas, 100cm x 100cm
As it turned out, my diagnosis wasn't as dire as expected, and my prescribed treatment involved a lumpectomy and radiotherapy, with no need for chemotherapy. Since I had never undergone general anesthesia before, my primary concern at this point was the fear of waking up after the surgery. One of my final expressions before losing consciousness was a plea to be awakened. Surprisingly, the experience ended up being a pleasantly restful one.
Reflecting on that day, my memories are dominated by the color blue, a patterned gown, long white socks, the three bright lights of the operating theater, and the two incisions made during the procedure – one to remove the lump and another under my arm to test the lymph node.
